More Than the Lake

People occasionally ask us what makes Lake James different from other lake communities.

The obvious answer is the water.

But that is only part of it.

Lake James sits in a remarkable corner of Western North Carolina where the lake gives way to mountains, forests, public lands, trails, trout streams, working farms and towns such as Morganton. Places like Oak Hill Community Park and Forest add another layer to that story.

You can spend the morning on Lake James and the afternoon walking through hundreds of acres of protected forest. You can mountain bike, hike, explore the history of the land and, apparently, discover that the dirt beneath your feet has enough pedigree to become a piece of North Carolina pottery.

That is a fairly impressive résumé for dirt.

For Bryan Jones and Fletcher Edens, this broader landscape has always been part of the appeal of Lake James. We have been selling real estate here since 2003, and after all these years we still believe that understanding Lake James means understanding what surrounds it.

The lake may be the centerpiece.

But the mountains, forests, trails, rivers and communities around it are what complete the picture.

If you are considering buying or selling property at Lake James, we would be glad to talk with you about the lake, the communities around it, and the places that make this part of North Carolina unlike anywhere else.
